Head of EAL

Sherborne Schools Group is seeking a dynamic and creative Head of EAL. The Head of EAL plays a central role in ensuring that pupils for whom English is an additional language are fully supported academically, socially, and linguistically so that they can thrive within the demands of a UK boarding school. The post‑holder leads the strategic development of EAL provision across the school, designing a coherent curriculum that equips pupils with the language skills needed for successful access to the wider academic programme. This includes overseeing diagnostic assessments, coordinating tailored intervention pathways, and ensuring high‑quality teaching that promotes rapid and sustained language acquisition. The Head of EAL also works closely with subject departments to advise on effective classroom strategies, scaffolding, and differentiation, ensuring that EAL learners are both challenged and supported.

Beyond the academic remit, the Head of EAL plays a vital pastoral role, helping international pupils adjust to the cultural and linguistic demands of boarding life. Building strong relationships with House staff, tutors, and parents, both in the UK and overseas, the post‑holder ensures clear communication and consistent support structures for each pupil. They champion cultural inclusion across the school community, promoting intercultural awareness and celebrating linguistic diversity. As a member of the wider academic leadership team, the Head of EAL contributes to whole‑school policy development, staff training, and strategic planning. They ensure that the needs of EAL learners are fully embedded within the school’s vision to empower girls to be global citizens, with the resilience, courage and creativity to make a difference

Head of Lacrosse

Sherborne Girls School is seeking an experienced leader and coach who will be responsible for delivering an exceptional lacrosse programme able to cater for participation through to performance level players. Developing unified pathways, coordinating staff and facilities, overseeing coaching quality, and promoting sustainable growth and excellence in lacrosse is key to the success of the programme. The postholder will also play a pivotal role in inspiring, coaching, and nurturing talent to achieve the best possible outcome for pupils.

Part-Time Sports Coach

Sherborne Schools Group is seeking a dynamic and creative Sports Coach. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated sport coach to join our team at Sherborne Girls. In this role, you will work as part of the sports team to deliver a successful sports programme that enables all girls to receive appropriate coaching in a variety of sports including Lacrosse, Hockey, Netball, Cricket and Tennis and to be supported to play in competitive fixtures according to their ability. You will develop a joy for sport in all individuals and continually seek opportunities to drive and improve the reputation of Sherborne Girls on a local and national level.

Teacher of Textiles

Sherborne Schools Group is seeking a dynamic and creative Teacher of Textiles (full or part time) who will be responsible for teaching Textiles at Sherborne Girls. This is an exciting time for our textiles department. Our uptake at GCSE and A level are excellent and we are moving to a new A level course (AQA) from September 2026. The incoming textiles teacher will play a prominent part in the next phase of Art & Design at Sherborne Girls.

Sherborne Girls is looking for a highly skilled and inspirational teacher of textiles to teach the subject from KS3 to A level. Textiles is a very popular and successful subject within our thriving art and design department.  All pupils study textiles in Year 9 and around 30 choose to take textiles at GCSE. We follow the AQA GCSE textiles course. At A level, our pupils follow the AQA Art and Design Textiles course.

We are seeking a teacher with a textiles or similar degree. They must be an inspirational and creative role model for the pupils and be passionate about textiles. Strong contemporary subject knowledge is crucial, and they must be willing to teach textiles in the broadest sense from fashion and costume through to installation and sculptural work. We are a forward-thinking department that work closely together to make sure that the pupils’ experience is positive, challenging and creative.

Examinations Access Arrangements Lead

The Sherborne Schools Group (SSG) is seeking a committed Examinations Access Arrangements Lead to provide support for pupils in the senior schools (Year 7 to 13). The primary focus of the role is at an operational level across both Sherborne Girls and Sherborne Boys and will involve working closely with colleagues to ensure that all appropriate exam access arrangements for public and internal examination are in place.  In addition, the role will involve ensuring that the Sherborne Group Schools’ record-keeping and practice is fully compliant with examination board and JCQ regulations.  The successful candidate will be expected to conduct exam access arrangement assessments.

Associate Chaplain

We, the Sherborne Schools Group (SSG) are proud of our Christian foundation, ethos and values, which underpin our education and community life. We recognise and celebrate the diversity of cultural backgrounds and beliefs of those within our schools and seek to explore spirituality, Christian faith, ethical living and big questions of life together in a spirit of mutual respect, open enquiry and reflection. 

The Associate Chaplain will work closely with the Senior Chaplain, Assistant Chaplain and wider Chaplaincy team to help develop the spiritual life of SSG and promote the pastoral welfare of the SSG community, alongside the Pastoral teams (Deputy Pastorals, HMs and Matrons, nurses, Wellbeing leads, counsellors,). They will lead some services and acts of Christian worship in each school and Sherborne Abbey and, with the Senior and Assistant Chaplain work with staff and pupils to encourage participation, nurture spirituality and develop character education.  The Associate Chaplain will be an ordained minister within the Church of England.

Hours of Work:

8 hours per week. Flexibility in hours will be required on occasion to meet the demands of the post.

Contract:

Part-time – approximately 8 hours a week, term time only – non-teaching contract

or

Full-time - if combined with a teaching post, when a remission of 0.3 will be provided.

The post holder whether they are on a teaching contract or not may be required to work on some of the bank holidays if they fall within term time.

Sherborne Schools Group is looking for a reliable and proactive Porter / Cleaner to help keep our school environments welcoming, safe, and running smoothly.
