An established part of Sherborne Girls

Day at Sherborne Girls is an integral part of the School, providing girls with full access to both the academic curriculum and the extensive Co-Curricular programme.

Girls will participate fully in lessons and are encouraged to participate in clubs and activities, societies and House events across the wide range of opportunities available at Sherborne Girls. Designed with flexibility in mind, this option is particularly suited to local pupils, enabling them to immerse themselves in the rich and busy life of the School, while returning home each evening.

Daily & weekend life...

Girls are expected to register in their House each morning, by 8am at the latest. Day girls are welcome to have breakfast in the House (7.30am) and with the School day extending into the early evening, allowing for academic enrichment, Co-Curricular activities and supervised prep - day girls are welcome to take part in all that is on offer. This includes staying for supper (6.15pm) in their house.

Those who wish to remain later for House activities or events can do so. Academic extension programmes and scholarship commitments may also extend beyond the core School day (8am – 5pm).

Day girls are encouraged to fully engage in the vibrant weekend programme, including social events with Sherborne Boys on Saturday evenings.

While Day at Sherborne Girls itself is well established, bus routes are being introduced from September 2026, designed to support greater accessibility for local families.

Morning services will operate, with routes planned according to demand.

FAQ's

Will my daughter be expected to attend school on a Saturday?
Yes, there are timetabled lessons in the morning on a Saturday until 11am, and girls will be expected to engage with elements of the Saturday programme where appropriate, particularly where academic, Co-Curricular or sports team commitments apply.

Where will my daughter keep her belongings?
Day pupils are members of a Boarding House and have access to designated day girl areas to store belongings securely during the day, as well as complete prep, change for sports lessons and socialise with their friends.

What will my daughter do with her mobile phone?
Sherborne Girls operates a clear mobile phone policy in line with UK Government guidelines which require that pupils do not access their mobile phones during the School working day (8am – 5pm). Your daughter will hand her phone in on arrival in the Boarding House and will collect it when she is ready to leave to go home. If you need to contact your daughter during the School day you can call the Boarding House office as a member of staff is always on duty and contactable. Pupils are expected to follow School policy, and we ask for parental support in ensuring that we are compliant with the expectations of the Government.

What will my daughter do with her mobile phone?

Do you have a bus service to Sherborne Girls?
Yes, provision is being introduced from September 2026, with routes designed around demand to support day pupils travelling to School.

Do you currently have a bus service from Sherborne Girls?
There won’t be a route running from Sherborne Girls to begin with and timings for the end of the day will differ for each girl, but consideration to this will be given in the future.

Can my daughter stay later in the evening?
Yes. Day pupils are welcome to remain for supper, prep, activities, rehearsals and House events, with supervision provided. We ask that parents communicate with their daughter’s housemistress the details of when they will collect their daughter.

Can my daughter occasionally stay the night at the School, for example after late events or before early departures?
It is not possible for your daughter to stay the night at School. A Boarding or Day Boarding option is available with a term’s notice.

Will my daughter be able to have breakfast in house if she arrives on the bus service?
We expect buses to arrive to Sherborne Girls at approximately 8am, meaning that she will not have sufficient time to access breakfast in house before morning commitments and lessons. Your daughter should therefore have breakfast before travelling to school.
