Seven Years in the Making
By Ealish P-R (U6)
I joined Sherborne Girls seven years ago, walking in as a much smaller and much quieter version of myself. I truly believe that it is the support and opportunities that the school have given me over the years which have shaped me into being the person I am today.
The boarding experience was intimidating at first, living away from home, and with other girls who were essentially strangers to me. However, it soon turned out to be one of the most influential parts of my Sherborne experience. There is something special about living in the boarding house, the rituals of house life, and the friendships that develop when you are living alongside people, day in and day out. The house quickly becomes a home away from home.

Sport turned out to be one of the highlights of my time at SG, providing new opportunities and experiences. I went to Sherborne not knowing what I could do, and Sherborne gave me the chance to find out. I gave sports a go that I had never even heard of before, I represented teams that I am proud to have been a part of, and I have participated in house sports with a real sense of pride in taking part. Events such as House netball and Sports Day have a unique atmosphere that which nothing else can match. Those afternoons showed me that sometimes the best experiences come from just turning up and giving it your all.
Throughout my time at Sherborne, I have been fortunate to take part in a variety of charity events which always seem to make you feel a sense of achievement once they are completed. This year in Mulliner, I took part in the 24-hour Run-athon where the whole house was able to come together to support an amazing charity.
All in all, it is the lively community at Sherborne Girls that makes the greatest impact on your time at the school, it is a community of support and camaraderie. The people here are warm and welcoming. The teachers genuinely support you and believe in you. The friends I have been able to make throughout my years here are ones which I know for certain will be friends for many years to come.
I will forever be grateful of all that I have learned from the school and the memories I have made over the years which are guaranteed to last a lifetime.
